Pinian Sono Go

This kata begins from the meditation stance at the command 'Makso'. When the command 'Prepare for 'Pinian Sono Go' is given, the student steps out to the 'Yoi' position - Heiko dachi. With Ibuki breathing, cross arms in front of throat and bring to sides. From this position the kata is started.

  1. With ibuki breathing, pull your arms back down to your sides, ending in you stance.
  2. From yoi dachi, turn to the left in a kokutsu with chudan uchi uke.
  3. Strike with a right seiken chudan tsuki.
  4. Swinging your hands together into a rith palm-over-palm, move into musubi dachi.
  5. Turn right in a kokutsu dachi with chudan uchi uke. Strike with a left hand seiken chudan tsuki.
  6. Turn back to the front, palm-over-palm to the left in musubi dachi.
  7. Move into right zenkutsu dachi with reinforced chudan uke.
  8. Step again (zenkutsu dachi) with a low cross block (right hand over left), followed immediately with a high (open hand) cross block.
  9. The hands grab, turn and pull, as you lunge into right zenkutsu dachi with seiken chudan tsuki.
  10. As you are approached from behind, turn counter clockwise into your opponent, taking out his lead leg with a foot stomp and landing sideways in a kiba dachi with a solid right side gedan barai.
  11. Prepare for your next (left side) strike by moving your right hand in front of your left side (open hand), while your left (open hand) covers your right side in preparation for a shuto strike (right hand over left).
  12. Strike the neck of your opponent with a left shuto, simultaneously pulling your right hand back to punching chanber (closed fist).
  13. Follow immediately with an outside-in crescent kick with the back (right) foot, which should hit your hand on its way around.
  14. As soon as the right foot lands (in a kiba dachi facing the opposite direction), continue moving, first by attacking your opponent's head with an elbow strike, then by stepping your left foot up to a point just behind your right (kake dachi with knees bent slightly) and executing a right sieken age tsuki (rising upper cut with the left fist just touching the right elbow). Kiai with the punch.
  15. Turn your head to face the left, and raise the arms higher, keeping their right-angle form from the previous strike (3-count).
  16. All at once, leap as high and as far as you can, turning 180 degrees in the air with a shattering kiai! Land with your legs crossed in almost a squat position (to protecy your groin) and a low crossblock, right over left.
  17. Pop up into a zenkutsu dachi (to the right), with a reinforced chudan uchi uke.
  18. Turn counter clockwise, 45 degrees past the direction the kata began.
  19. Stop in a left zenkutsu dachi, driving a left shuto (palm down) low while preparing a right strike by bringing that hand up high and pointing it down towards the left.
  20. Thrust the right hand down in a shotei gedan uchi, grab, and as you shift into a kiba dachi, finish with a left tettsui gedan uchi (palm down). The right hand pulls high in a closed fist above the head.
  21. Move to musubi dachi (left foot in, hands in the same position), then turn to the right in a zenkutsu dachi, and mirroring your previous attacks, thrust a right shuto low, followed by a left shotei gedan uchi, and ending with a right tettsui gedan uchi from a keba dachi (left hand pulls high)

Return to 'Yoi' position - Heiko dachi, cross arms in front of throat and bring to sides. Wait in this position until the 'Rei' command is given to end the kata.
