Mas Oyama

Sosai

"I realized that perseverance and step-by-step progress are the only ways to reach a goal along a chosen path."

Kyokushin means the “ultimate truth” and from its inception Mas Oyama intended his system to be as realistic as possible with the stress being on combat effectiveness and fighting.

Masutatsu Oyama (大山 倍達 Ōyama Masutatsu, July 27th, 1923 – April 26, 1994), more commonly known as Mas Oyama, was a karate master who founded Kyokushinkai Karate, considered the first and most influential style of full contact karate.
Classes

The Three K's

The main elements of every class:

Kihon - Strong karate begins with a strong foundation; repetition of basic stances along with blocking, kicking, and striking techniques

Kata - Kihon put into motion; detailed patterns of martial arts movements simulating real-life self defense situations

Kumite - Full contact sparring; emphasis on controlled use of techniques while experiencing the feeling of hitting and being hit

Convenient Classes

Our class times were created to accommodate busy, activity-filled schedules while at the same time keeping class sizes safe and manageable. Our students are encouraged to attend at least 2 classes per week either on the Monday to Thursday evening schedules or the Saturday morning schedule.

Some of our newest Black Belts started in our Tiny Tots (ages 3 and 4) class, progressed through more than a decade of training, and now help in training a new generation of students.
